Residents of Hounslow in London now have even more reason to get outdoors, thanks to the local council's partnership with BetterPoints. From today, users can collect BetterPoints at all ten of the borough's new outdoor gyms, getting fitter and gathering reward points as they do so.
The new facilities have been installed by The Great Outdoor Gym Company, which has been successful in helping inactive groups improve their physical activity. Research has shown they can increase the uptake among those groups by as much as 35 percent. The added incentive of BetterPoints will help raise that success rate even higher.
Chris Bristow, Chief Operating Offer of BetterPoints Ltd, is delighted with the partnership:
'This is great news for Hounslow residents and I'm delighted that London Borough of Hounslow continues to innovate in using BetterPoints to encourage healthier lifestyles.
'BetterPoints are underpinned by a rigorous model of behaviour change that's proven to increase participation in such programmes. It's great to see councils like Hounslow leading the way forward.’
Councillor Corinna Smart, Cabinet Member for Public Health and Leisure on Hounslow Council, said: 'It is great to see this new outdoor gym equipment in full use and being enjoyed.
'People also come along to their local parks and open spaces to use outdoor gyms and do exercise at their own levels and in their own time, increasing the opportunities to have healthier lifestyles.'
